A Head Full of Darkness

Keira Stephenson’s collection explores mental health conditions such as manic depression and bipolar disorder. It contains all self-designed prints on different textures including four-way stretch mesh, peached Nautica puffer jacket material and matte Lycra. The mesh represents the vulnerability of mental health; the feeling of being exposed and on show to the world. The puffer jacket represents the feeling of safety and comfort, like a safety blanket. Together these fabrics juxtapose each other: no matter how safe you feel, vulnerability always shows through.

Stephenson’s prints are psychedelic, consisting of different colour ways coupled together to make the viewer lost in the prints. The two prints overlapping with the mesh over the Lycra symbolise the confusion of mental health and not knowing why we feel the way we do.
