Danny Aitken

Danny Aitken

Danny Aitken is a product designer, specifically interested in Ceramics design. Originally aiming to study Biological Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Danny decided to use his gap year to study foundation Art and Design at York College ‘for fun’ where he quickly found his proficiency working with ceramics, after being taught how to throw by Ed Poxon. He then went on to study Product Design at Sheffield Hallam Institute of Arts to broaden his newfound interest in design. This is where he was able to develop his skills in ceramics and experiment with organic porcelain forms and lighting. Following COVID-19, Danny decided to invest in a throwing wheel and kiln, which have allowed him to refine his interest and ability in generating Biomorphic ceramic forms, mimicking the fractal patterns of fungi and plants and using translucent porcelain to access our innate biophilic love for the natural form.
