Sally O’Callaghan‘s publication, Bedroom explores the relationship between young women and their bedrooms during the pandemic. Bedroomtakes a personal look into how women have curated their rooms and how this reflects their personality. The publication highlights issues that many young women faced during lock-down, including social media usage, low self-esteem, and mental health.

Bedroom consists of two parts, the first highlights the monotony of lock-down and explores the mundaneness of living the same day over and over again. The second celebrates young womens individuality and takes a personal look into how their relationships with their rooms have developed over the past year.

Heavily inspired by photographers Mayan Toledano, Petra Collins, and Adrienne Salinger alongside, Tracey Emins My Bed. The publication is a time capsule to capture the struggles faced by young women during the pandemic whilst, reflecting on the importance of appreciating our homes and the things we may have taken for granted.

The publication is inspired by O’Callaghan’s experiences and the young women in her life but extends itself to the reader and their own journey.
