Cut, Make, Trim

Cut, Make, Trim is a magazine guide to sustainable clothing habits- made from recycled newsprint and canvas fabric. A collection of interviews, photography, how-tos, and illustrations, the publication investigates efforts to combat the devastating effects of the fast fashion industry: from the ethics of buying from second-hand stores to DIY internet trends.

Thorough interviews and contributions from advocates of sustainable fashion, Cut, Make, Trim focusses on three areas of sustainable fashion: reworking, reusing and repurposing, to encourage its audience’s creativity and reshape the negative connotation of ‘second-hand’. The project was widely shared and reposted, spreading the spirit of sustainability embedded in Cut, Make, Trim.

Spalding’s work combines analogue and digital methods, with sustainability at its core. She has recently been learning how to make clothes, and has begun her first design job, developing educational resources.
