Sick and tired of the same old ads? Well no more. In today’s advertising world, it’s sell sell sell – where all content is geared to get you spending. Stockers Project revolves around taking a deep dive into the advertising industry, and exploring the techniques used in the media to manipulate, persuade and deceive. More specifically he has been looking at TV and film, and the many different formats of advertising seen in both, from product placement to French perfume ads.
This work is a continuation of his project from before Christmas, in which he created a series of posters of inane and unconventional products, commenting on the ridiculous nature of consumerism. Stocker has aimed to go a step further with this idea, by creating his own video advertisements, each one parodying a different style of advertising. The video consists of 6 different adverts, each based on the posters I have made.
He has also created a billboard, in which each of his posters are featured. He used a Graffiti marker on white paper to draw them in a style that looks as if they are layered upon one another.
