Helen Blejerman is a Mexican artist based in the UK. Her work examines the religious practices of Mexican survivors of gender-based killings and what grows in the geographical landscapes where families search for their daughters’ bodies and clandestine burial sites. Through film, installation and sound, she constructs poetic and ritualistic spaces that reflect on grief, memory, and the persistence of hope amid extreme violence and the absence of the state. An Associate Lecturer and practice-based PhD researcher at Sheffield Hallam University, Blejerman’s recent exhibitions include Ceremonial Ritual at Sheffield Cathedral (2025), In Search of Ghosts at Fringe Arts Bath curated by Royal College of Art researcher Isabel Young (2025), and the award-winning short film Areas of Search, recipient of the Best Video Art Film Award at Asolo Art Film Festival in Italy (2025).
