How does our creative practice happen? What are the ways we make, think and do? How do we find out what works for us?

In 2026/27 Transmission will value the diverse approaches different people take to developing ideas and finding ways to do the things that matter.

Tim Machin is a curator researcher and artist. He manages Sheffield Hallam University’s gallery and exhibition programme and has curated and produced a wide range of exhibitions and events from citywide contemporary art biennials, to pop-up student shows in informal spaces. His research explores the intersection of the built environment with imagination, and the construction of social and place imaginaries. He works across curatorial, archival and artistic practice. As an artist he has
exhibited nationally and internationally.

TRANSMISSION is part of the BA Fine Art course at Sheffield Hallam University Sheffield Hallam University.

All are welcome to join us: students and staff from any course, and artists, curators, academics and public from across the city. The venue is accessible direct from Hallam Square, Sheffield.
