Andy Jackson

Andy Jackson’s paintings operate as mimetic copies of urban sites and visual sources, which he characterises as thin-surface-skins. His practice follows a cyclical methodology that begins with the act of looking and identifying visual material within the city, proceeds through the translation of this material into painting, and culminates in the exhibition of the work back into the urban environment—sometimes returning it to the very site from which its source originated. He is currently studying a practice-based PhD in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. Previous exhibitions include P for Painting at Yorkshire Artspace, Sheffield 2024, The Possibilities of Datum Spike Island, Bristol 2016, John Moores Painting Prize Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool 2014 and Ici Londres Galerie Nicolas Silin, Paris 2013.
