Art in the Cathedral
Friday, 9 May 2025 - Thursday, 12 June 2025
Sheffield Cathedral
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

This group consisted of six first- and second-year Fine Art students at Sheffield Hallam University, who explored various aspects and corners of Sheffield Cathedral through different media and firsthand research.

In this option, individuals collaborated with members of Sheffield Cathedral to conduct brief research and gain insights into the space and its activities within broader communities. The group created work with freedom and criticality in response to various aspects: sacred spaces, stained glass windows, the architecture surrounding these windows, the shepherd and related scenes, engagement with individuals experiencing homelessness, and the historical absence of women in religious narratives. This group exhibited their work at Sheffield Cathedral, reflecting the research and experimentation during the Professional Practice module. They used various media, including drawing, fabric, oil paintings, installations, acrylic pieces, and real-life objects which reflect the socio-political aspects of the contemporary world in Sheffield.
