TRANSMISSION is part of the BA Fine Art course at Sheffield Hallam University.
How does our creative practice happen? What are the ways we make, think and do? How do we find out what works for us?
In 2026/27 Transmission will value the diverse approaches different people take to developing ideas and finding ways to do the things that matter. Sharon Gill is the CEO of Yorkshire and Humber Visual Art Network. YVAN is a research-led support network for the visual arts sector in the region. It is founded on the creative vision of individual artists and arts organisations. They prioritise individual practitioners, artists’ networks, small-scale initiatives and the artist-led. YVAN is one of nine regions that make up Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN) England.
Sharon has worked in the arts for over 30 years as a manager, producer and consultant alongside her own creative practice. Until 2022 Sharon was the CEO of Rotherham ROAR after which she went on to manage Symbiosis, an Art and Ecology project in Doncaster. Sharon has also been Chair of the Board at BEAM (Public Arts).
All are welcome to join us: students and staff from any course, and artists, curators, academics and public from across the city. The venue is accessible direct from Hallam Square, Sheffield.
