Following the study of communication and media design at the WAM- Die Medienakademie in Dortmund, Germany and her first industry experience as a creative intern at GREY Germany, Menke started her postgraduate course at Sheffield Hallam in 2019. As a German student she chose to study in the UK due to the particular interest in the cultural exchange and different approach to graphic design that the university offered. The shift from solution-oriented design and client briefs to speculative design and research-based projects changed her perception of her practice. She doesn’t think of design anymore as a tool to arrive at answer but as a process that facilitates questions and understanding. Menke will start her professional carrier as a junior art director at the Berlin-based advertising agency Scholz & Friends in March 2021.
