Influenced by human cognition and existential philosophy, the core of the artist’s practice lies in deep introspection on belonging, identity, and humanity’s place in the world. Growing up in Cyprus amidst geographical segregation due to conflict sparked a profound interest in land politics and ownership. With dual nationality and a hybrid cultural identity, the artist experienced a constant struggle to fit into societal norms, feeling neither fully Greek nor fully English. Their educational experience was marked by Greco-Cypriot nationalism and a one-sided view of history, leading to bullying and a sense of disconnected placement in society. These experiences formed the foundation of the artist’s exploration of belonging and identity in individuals with multicultural backgrounds or those who have migrated to new lands.
