¿SACHI? presents two series of paintings. Still recovering mentally from the solitude of lockdown ¿SACHI?’s first series, SIT, uses chairs to depict isolation in liminal spaces and the physical, mental and emotional isolation as they reflect on a university experience which has taken place sitting at a desk:
“The chair is both their safe space and the thing holding them back from living. A Portrait of Shame. A Portrait of Comfort. A Portrait of Anxiety.”
¿SACHI?’s second series Coloured uses colour to explore their identity:
“Colours generated using my date of birth. Colours I was born with.
Black is the absence of light
My skin has always been a more
Cocoa brown
At times even burnt umber
But never absent of light”
Using their date of of birth ¿SACHI? has discovered the colour that defines them, a dark blue, oceanic, the colour of drowning.

“I now have two colours that define me. One, my obsession, my captor. The other, my tone, my shell. I’m not sure if I prefer ‘BLACK’ or ‘COLOURED’”
