This piece is a deeply personal reflection on identity, beauty standards and pressure of the modelling industry. Drawing from my own experiences, I explore the pursuit of perfection and how it can gradually strip away ones sense of self. At the heart of the work is the motif of the beauty spot, historically symbolic of glamour, individuality and flaw. This metaphor presents itself removed, as two large scale reflective balloons on the floor beneath my pointillism piece. This reflection invites viewers to confront the tension between authenticity and expectation. It’s about reclaiming ownership of my own body, and highlighting how even the smallest details can hold powerful stories. My hopes for this work is to have the public be able to move and manipulate the spheres around the space, recreating the experience of how beauty itself is fluid and free moving, yet they are confined to a space of standards.
