Hanna Gorczynska
I was born into a working-class family in southwestern Poland and am the daughter of a railway worker and homemaker. Childhood evenings of Eastern European and Scandinavian animations sparked my early love of visual storytelling, later deepened by Tarkovsky, Kurosawa, Kusturica, and Godard. Surrounded by mid-20th-century illustrated books, I was captivated by their enduring artistry. I studied animation and honed my skills in digital drawing at university, briefly working in a video production company before embracing a more personal, hand-drawn, painterly style. Influenced by Yuri Norstein, Jiří Trnka, Ivan Bilibin, and Polish mid-century illustrators, I celebrate simple moments—finding beauty and resilience in everyday life, offering timeless wisdom.
