Georgia’s project ‘Making Connections’ is about materials, texture and sound. Chain links are the medium with which she explores these themes. In a playful, feminist interpretation of the assumed masculine connotations of this industrial technology, Georgia maintains the visual language of chains, locks and bolts, while questioning their strength and scale.

Interacting with the pieces, the viewer will discover that they lack any of the qualities that would be expected – instead, the viewer is met with a stretchy, light and chalky sounding chain, sometimes even containing another chain hidden within a link. It is these small quirks and unexpected moments that fuel Georgia’s work, and her desire to explore new techniques and materials.
