Tea Ceremony

“Jewellery is inspiring and healing. It embodies the emotional connection between people, and is the material manifestation of those emotions. When wearing jewellery, the wearer’s senses can be stimulated by watching, listening, smelling or touching the piece, to feel the power of jewellery.

Zhu Ping’s work is titled ‘Tea Ceremony’. The main material in the work is reclaimed tea cans, used to store flavoured herbal tea, in combination with silver used to structure the piece. The purpose of the jewellery is to remind Ping of happy moments in their life. When Ping was young, they didn’t realise the preciousness of spending time with family and friends – even just in sharing a simple cup of tea. Now, having grown up and studying in other cities, even abroad, Ping has discovered that their family and friends cannot stay with them all the time. This jewellery helps to remind Ping to cherish the moments they spend with them as much as possible. Ping hopes to use jewellery to tell stories such as these, to help viewers recall their own precious memories, and remember the happiness they have in their hearts.”
