“Art, and an appreciation of art, cannot and must not be separated from daily life. They can never solely be the preserve of museums or galleries, but are part of the basic needs that we require every single day. As a designer and maker Wenchao Dai believes their duty is to serve people and solve problems in both an artistic and creative way.
The project Dai is currently working on is about cutlery and dining etiquette. Although the specific concept may vary from project to project, the objective is always the same: to help people achieve an appreciation of arts and objects by using them themselves. Dai holds the view that well-made works are powerful enough to pass the designer’s intention and thoughts from maker to user. They hope people can take pleasure from their work and pay more attention to the details of daily items in life, because art should never leave us alone.
