A father’s life and memories are explored by Evie Ludlam’s graduate collection, Just Like Dad. Through it she explored her parents’ life together and the way her father’s death influenced her family: the difficulties that faced by a single parent, and how parents adapt to this whilst overcoming grief at the same time. This project celebrates her father’s life, and single parents who have to take the roll of mum and dad:
“Looking at my parent’s past and also my mother’s present, I was able to create a collection in memory of my father, almost a look into my father’s wardrobe, whilst also celebrating my mother”.
This blurred line between femininity and masculinity allows Ludlum to explore men’s capability of showing emotion through multiple mediums such as knit and print, in menswear garments with feminine elements.
Ludlum’s internship at womenswear brand Markus Lupfer spanned four seasons and two fashion weeks allowing her to assist in dressing and organising models, as well as viewing the shows. She worked in the brand’s pattern cutting department for eight months and also assisted in photoshoots and hand embroidery work. Her other work experience has included personal shopping in a high-end clothing boutique.
