As a Jeweller, Daniel Brocklehurst often deals with the idea of value, and how people interpret value in their own way. Within his designs, Brocklehurst explores this idea, challenging himself to create forms and pieces with both contextual and aesthetical interest. Brocklehurst often begins his process using traditional techniques and mediums, including stone-setting and engraving, before evolving these techniques for a contemporary context. 

The interaction between the wearer and the piece is particularly important to Brocklehurst as this relationship adds to the value of the piece. For this reason he is very interested in the textures and imperfection that develop in the patina over time. With his focus on the subjective value people ascribe to jewellery, Brocklehurst aims to ask the question ‘how does my work make you feel?’
