‘Always Together’ is a project inspired by the Polish tradition of leaving an extra space for the deceased during Christmas dinner, so their spirit can eat alongside their family. This is otherwise known as ‘Wigilia’. It explores themes of grief and keeping the memory of the deceased alive through our customs. This was done to ensure the preservation of the practice through sharing it with Western audiences as well as Polish migrants who live abroad, ensuring they stay connected to their roots.
