Framing Boundary

“The picture frame is a neutral space, it is located between the space of the picture and the space of the viewer, and it is the boundary between the two spaces. The interior and exterior are both undertaken and highlighted by the frame.” (Marin, 2010)

Marin, L. (2010) On representation. Stanford, CA: Stanford University Press.

“‘Art’ is the name of the relationship between artist and audience, and ‘Artwork’ is the evidence.”

Sihan Wu’s project Framing Boundary uses jewellery to explore the relationship between them. He encourages people to use themselves as the yardstick to measure the world, and reflect on the boundaries of art and reality.

“It is undeniable that the boundaries always exist, but it is the courage of people and the determination of art to constantly break the boundaries.”
