Zoe Allison’s project Hand-Me-Downs, outlines her upbringing in a semi-rural West Yorkshire village, exploring key influences throughout her childhood. This includes the landscape and moorlands where she spent much of her time, instilling in her a deep love of nature, from wildflowers to the contrasting textures of stone and mud. Through this project, Zoe also highlights the influence of her parents, who have slightly opposing interests. She explores the notion of harmony within contrasts, drawing inspiration from her mother’s love of horses and nature and her father’s passion for music.
Zoe plans to design luxury menswear inspired by nature’s organic textures and how they can influence both shape and materials. She will explore the functionality of garments to ensure they meet the needs and desires of the wearer.
