Chenlu Zhang has used jewellery to explore a relationship at a distance, using the intimate relationship between jewellery and the body – touch, smell and sight – to explore the relationship between a couple. The item allows the wearer to interact with others through touch. Zhang says: “My inspiration came from pockets, which are a highly enigmatic container because you never know what can be inside. When the weather just started to cool off, I observed a couple walking down the street, and the male put both of their hands in his pocket”.
