Passed Along

“A man’s Self is the sum total of all that he can call his” – William James

Passed Along by Rachel May explores the theme of “pre-loved”, looking at the relationship between humans and objects. When people think about inheriting an object, they usually think about monetary value, but that is not the only kind of value. Many objects are monetarily worthless but have other value. Sentimental value. A Grandmother’s knitting needles, a Grandfather’s jumper or a book from an old friend. Items, which only have true value to the receiver. Things, which provoke strong emotions and trigger memories for their owner.

This publication presents a curated collection of ten photos of ordinary objects of sentimental value with stories from their owners. Printed on A4 translucent vellum paper and bound with foldback clips.
