The Journey

Katie Coe named her project “The Journey”, as this links the constant path that mental health follows and the stories told within her publication. Through this project, different people who are experienced in the outdoors have told their stories, explaining how the outdoors helps them in their own ways, from relaxing in nature and canal walks, to climbing and mountain biking.

Within “The Journey” there are resources that people can access if they are in need of help with their mental health, and research on how the outdoors can be beneficial to mental health. Inside the guide, after each story, there is further guidance for people less familiar with the outdoors to help get started and explore more.

The main focus of Coe’s project was to help demonstrate the important connection between the outdoors and mental health. This is represented by the contour lines shown within the posters. By reading the publication created in this project Coe aims to encourage people that are struggling with their mental health to get out, find what they enjoy, and improve their well-being.
