You Little Rebel

“You Little Rebel” is a typography based zine, created by Molly Moore, that captures the beauty and freedom of protest through photography, giving a real sense of being surrounded by the sea of flags and vibrance of characters. The zine’s photographs were captured at a recent Extinction Rebellion protest in Hyde Park, fighting against the use of fossil fuels.

Protesting is typically seen in a negative lens, when alternatively we should embrace our prerogative to stand up for our rights. Moore’s “You Little Rebel” demonstrates responsible design in action, aiming to keep topical in the changing world, and inspire activists of the future. Globally, there have been a succession of disastrous events, and there is a danger that the need for climate action, and political change, will slip out of the public mind.

The main aim of “You Little Rebel” is to create change for the better, in a not-for-profit way, generating informative and influential graphics that follow sustainable morals. Throughout the zine is advice informing the reader of their rights, a checklist, and a protest playlist, all to prepare citizens for the day. The type throughout is inspired by graffiti and placard art, and also provides a stencil kit inside, encouraging people to get involved and create their own stylish, low-cost, D.I.Y protest placards.
