Are We There Yet?

In celebration of her hometown, Bridlington, Megan Long created a collection that captures her family’s fond memories of growing up by the coast. The British seaside has become escapism for those living in built-up areas. A trip to the beach allows families to relax, allowing the age dynamics to become blurred, finding everyone building sandcastles and paddling whether they are 4 or 40. Long explored how the glorified idea of a day at the beach is not always as planned, for the temperamental British weather has you wearing your swimming costume underneath your raincoat. She previously produced abstract seascapes, driven by the colour and shapes found in her photography. Taking inspiration from this and using the movement, patterns, and reflections formed by the sea to create prints and silhouettes.
