Re-involving Sheffield’s steel history within a former cutlery works located in the heart of Sheffield city centre to promote wider use and attraction from tourists.

Freya Farrah’s projects proposes a 24-bed cutlery-inspired hostel within the heart of Sheffield city centre. Farrah’s proposal includes refined methods of re-involving steel history within Sheffield’s Sellers Wheel. This includes a table etiquette inspired staircase, bespoke cutlery draws and Sheffield stainless steel engraved finishings. Farah’s design includes a mix of private, public and shared spaces. The ground floor has a carefully curated hostel reception closely linked to a public café space. The first floor consists of an eight-bed dormitory room, a staff room, two laundry rooms and two private double bedrooms. The second floor accommodates two dormitory rooms (one four and one six-bed) along with one private double bedroom and a laundry room. Both the first and second floors have shared bathroom blocks as well as private bedroom facilities. The new extended third floor now accommodates a shared kitchen-lounge space with an external roof terrace. The Sellers Wheel Hostel will attract a new economy to Sheffield with a higher number of tourists visiting our city.
