Designing with a Contextual Mix of Reality is a multidimensional platform by Hannah Morley that answers the research question ‘Can light help captivate an immersive and radical spatial experience by identifying the practical possibility of a future feminist utopia, through a series of creative platforms?’

The work features a mesmerizing future feminist utopian city designed to raise the awareness of women’s safety on our streets. It is made to educate future generations on these issues in a ‘blueprint format’; an Archigram; to have more inclusive built environments with women being part of the planning process by conveying the emotions that many women wish to endure daily within this ‘man-made city’ (Arup, n.d.).

This archigram is a flexible two-dimensional creative advertisement to be used in many alternative ways such as on transport, billboards, websites, projection and wrapping buildings. The second part of this project is an insertion model placed in Devonshire Green in our current cities as an interactive structure. 

It uses polycarbonate walls to help project the archigram, using light to create an immersive experience within the insertion acting as a meanwhile space. Inside, the design features a candlelight vigil area for the public to pay their respects and interact with as a visual reminder of how we need to act now, supporting campaign organisations such as Our Bodies Our Streets (2020).
