EPIC Doncaster relies on their data, but their systems are ancient. Currently, they use a mix of digital and analogue systems that don’t work together, wasting time and allowing for human error. The key goal of the ‘EPIC Data’ project by Emily Gower is to inspire EPIC to join her vision of reforming police data storage across the UK.

EPIC is a Young People’s Crime Prevention Programme. They focus on reducing the number of young people getting involved in anti-social behaviour and criminality. They receive data from other departments of the Doncaster Children’s Trust which has to be manually entered into their own systems, then manually extracted into graphs and readable content. This takes up valuable time that could be spent in contact with the children they support. A properly organised system would automate these menial tasks.

A new system would create a full, accurate picture that would have a real impact on these children’s lives. Making this data useful means EPIC can continue to improve its ability to predict trends before the crime is committed and target tailored support towards areas that need it most.
