The “Writing on the Wall” brief involved creating an illustrated publication to enhance the story of Ana Caroline Colombo, The Fable of the Rain. The story looks to show the importance of different elements and weather conditions, and the importance of phenomena on our planet. The format of the story is a story within story, so Bianca Voicu‘s illustrated version of the book makes use of two different art styles to portray the different timelines. The fable’s art style makes use of shapes, patterns and simple colours to show the ancient nature of the elements. The other side of the story utilises a different style, a more fluid and modern one.
