“First place” by Taylor Humphrey is inspired by the horse racing community and her families’ interest and involvement in the sport. As a child, she would often visit the races with her famil,y meaning the day trip to the races became a tradition. The atmosphere of excitement and anticipation throughout the day has been an inspiration to Humphrey throughout this project.

Humphrey has investigated shape and texture. From this, she has designed a graduate collection consisting of four looks. The collection is heavily inspired by the jockeys’ silks, with the colours and patterns in which the jockeys race. In particular, the racing checks inspired many pieces within the collection.
