With the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdowns across the whole of the globe, many people were unable to access green spaces or spend long periods of time outdoors. Because of this, mental health declined significantly, seeing a rise in anxiety and depression. Oliver Scott‘s Sellers Wheel Apartments creates a link between urban life and nature. With reduced demand for office spaces due to increasing remote workin, Scott proposes apartments will be converted from unused office space.
Each apartment will have access to the gym and the selling point of the design: The Roof Garden, a place where residents can socialise, relax and have the feeling of being in nature. Residents will be able to grow their own food, creating a more sustainable community, the space will be surrounded by vines to block out the sound and wind to make the space as peaceful as possible.
