‘The hardest thing about refugees isn’t the past we lost but it’s the future we cannot see”
The Future I Cannot See is a collection of essays and short stories by Hussain Shah Rezaie. Hussain is a first-time author currently living in a detention centre in Indonesia. Hussain documents the experiences of a refugee awaiting asylum. He’s been detained for nearly 9 years.
Eleanor Parkes has formatted and designed Hussain’s writings into a publication after being inspired from talking to Hussain about his experiences. Hussain mentions how he feels it difficult as a man to open up about his situation, and how writing serves as an avenue for him to express himself and escape from his everyday life. With this in mind, Eleanor has created a publication that is designed to reflect Hussain’s journey of opening up through his writing.
