In this project, Louise Pinnegar creates a radical retelling of the novel Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. It is separated into two parts – the conversations between the two characters, entitled ‘Invisible Cities: in the Words of Marco Polo and Kublai Khan’, and the city cards where the rest of the story is told.
The box also contains a fold-up pin-up aid to help guide the reader, like a map through the cities. This work provides a deeper literary understanding of the text by explaining themes and symbols in both the city cards and the conversations book.
