With the rapid development in technology, the industrial productivity of society has increased tremendously. This has led to a faster iteration of objects, making it easier to discard them. However, it is undeniable that people project emotions onto specific objects, even objects that seem mundane in their daily lives but are woven into every emotional experience of the user’s life. Therefore, resulting in strong emotional attachments that become a reason to restore them.
The original element of the Connect Again project is “restoration”, an attempt to express the state of the “restoration process” through contemporary jewellery. Allowing the wearer to understand the emotional significance of the “restored object” to the human being while wearing it. Revealing the connection between the “restored object” and the “restoration emotion”. Cheuk Man Au‘s project aims to express the state of the ‘restoration process’ through contemporary jewellery, allowing the wearer to understand the emotional significance of the ‘restored object’ to the human being when wearing it, and to reveal the connection between the ‘restored object’ and the ‘restored emotion’.
In addition to this, the Connect Again project is about the physical sustainability of the object being restored and its impact on emotional sustainability, because when we restore an object we are also restoring the emotional connection it carries.
