Based on the research on the current situation of traditional crafts and Chinese family relationship, this project explores the attitude and essence of expressing family relationship and sacrificial ceremony in jewellery. It describes a story of mind-wandering while participating in a family ritual, about how a ‘bystander’ whose body is participating in the activity while thinking about relationships and meaning inside sees the family ritual. There are three works ‘Meet the family’,’ Funeral of natural death’ and ‘Admission banquet’, each of which describes a scene where family members gather. The woven peanuts in the work are made with traditional knotting techniques as symbols to refer to family members.
‘Meet the family‘ describes a couple who are about to get engaged and are questioned by relatives when they meet the family for the first time.
‘Funeral of natural death‘ describes thinking about the relationship between people’s behavior and belief when they walk surround the dead at funerals.
‘Admission banquet‘ describes concerns that the act of comparison at a banquet could cause stress and pain for the younger generation in the family.
