Hannah Bourne has explored how interior surface design could improve mood during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Her wallpaper designs use repeat patterns, focussing on nature and people, two of the things that were missed the most while the country stayed at home during the pandemic.

Bourne’s wordless book, based on David Bowie’s Space Oddity aims to replicate the same ‘funky feel’ of the song. Bourne notes that wordless books can be enjoyed by any age, language, and ability, making them an effective tool for clear storytelling.
