‘If you are a feminist and are not a vegan, you are ignoring the exploitation of Female non-humans’ – Gary L. Francione.
Tasha Wright has used this quotation as a springboard to explore the relationship of feminism and Veganism within our society. Learning how both women and animals are being exploited by the patriarchy encouraged Wright to create a series of activist responses to her discoveries. Through research, she explored the effectiveness of loud and quiet activism in existing campaigns, and how best to make her persuasions effective for a female audience.
Reflecting on what she learnt, Wright explored how the exploitation of non- human females could be reflected in their human counterparts to make the cause relatable. Throughout the project, she has made connections via mediums like temporary tattoos and stickers, by manipulating pre-existing animal branding methods and relating them to the patriarchal society. Finally, she created a series of risograph posters collating all research and ideas, which were then pasted up around Sheffield to gather public response.
