Lani Hall’s project brief was to create a space within Sheffield city centre where the process of design captures the forefront of interaction, allowing a connection between the design and the user.

The design of the building’s interior allows users to imagine how items on sale will interact with their own domestic setting. This enables greater visualisation of how items will look in their surrounding environment and how products will engage with dimensions and colour schemes to increase the feeling and sensation of home within the retail environment. A personal ideology within the design can develop, enhancing the user’s experience.

Hall aimed to focus on her personal connection with Heal’s and the furniture retail industry to influence her design process.

Sheffield train station’s building has natural lighting which enhances the user’s experience within the space, whilst incorporating biophilic design into the building.
