Kachi Kachi Yama is a short film by Kate Allen, based on the traditional Japanese Folktale of the same name. Throughout the project, she used digital illustration alongside a mix of different materials to create a unique stop-motion animation. This work tells the story of a Tanuki (Japanese Racoon Dog) and a Rabbit who both commit terrible acts of revenge. Allen explains that the film aims to explore the dynamic between the characters, to show the process of the Rabbit gaining strength and wearing down the Tanuki, until his ultimate demise.
