Lydia Hooke produced branding for Sam Teale’s jewellery company, Magpie.
The name ‘Magpie’ derives from the maker Sam Teale’s childhood nickname, as he was always fascinated by shiny objects. He utilizes metal for his pieces and uses traditional metal work techniques.
The aim for the brand identity was to be modern, and also translatable in different contexts. The primary logo is of a magpie, with the secondary logo being an outline of it, enabling a degree of flexibility. The business cards are inspired by the recognisable raindrop damascus steel pattern. In addition, the feather iconography was created by Hooke to strengthen the brand, and build recognition. This version is also intended to be used for related items, such as stickers and packaging labels.
