The Hidden Curriculum

Catie Varley’s “The Hidden Curriculum” project explores the unwritten, and often unintended lessons, that the Class of 2022 have learnt throughout their time on the BA Graphic Design course.

The project features a display to hold the A2 book, handmade to feature illustrations, research insights, and information on the current set curriculum. The book contains hidden messages throughout, that can only be revealed through using a UV torch.

The purpose of this project is to bring into light the lessons we learn throughout education that are often forgotten about, ignored or avoided. It looks at the real issues that the class of 2022 have faced, and the ways in which these contrast with the formal written curriculum. Through such a large format, the intention is that this subject can no longer be ignored.
