This project delves into the intersection of scent, culture, and design, aiming to unravel the intricate ways in which individuals from British and Asian cultures perceive and visually interpret scents. Employing a user-centric approach, the research encompasses a diverse range of methodologies. This innovative design approach resulted in diverse and vivid visual representations, offering a unique perspective on the subjective nature of scent interpretation.
The cultural exploration of scents illuminated how Sandalwood, Jasmine, Tea, and Rain are imbued with rich symbolism and meaning within British and Asian contexts. Visual representations, such as posters and augmented reality simulations, were created to bridge the gap between the olfactory and visual realms, showcasing the potential for immersive design in scent branding. Patterns in the use of colours and geometries across different scents underscored the existence of a shared sensory language.
In essence, this project unfolds as a sensory journey, weaving together scientific inquiry, cultural exploration, and creative design to deepen our understanding of the profound connections between scents, cultural identities, and the visual expressions that emerge from the rich tapestry of human experiences.
