TO BE FEMININE

In this body of research, Shu Huang combines the craft skills of embroidery, which is traditionally seen as a feminine practice, with metalwork, more commonly considered a masculine practice, to create objects that place female sexual organs front and centre. By creating jewellery that confronts issues around body identity and power, Huang wants her  jewellery to represent a woman’s attitude and perspective. Confidence is about not being afraid of what others will think of you. Even things that people thought were untouchable in the past are more tolerant and harmonious in today’s society.
