Being creative with her family during the Covid 19 lockdown has led Sophie Bexton to create a series of inspiring posters, advocating the use of art to improve well being. “During lockdown, me and my family used art as a kind of therapy. Stuck inside, spending more time together, getting creative was a fun thing to do. We made papier-mache rainbows, decorated rocks, built dream catchers, even used twigs and weird objects to build boats which to race across our pool. I wanted to spread the message that art can be used to create positivity”. The hand motif she uses throughout is important “Holding hands shows love and friendship. Our hands can say so much.” And she drew on her friendships with other students and on social media to continue the project as a zine. The zine features 18 people, each sharing a view on art creating positivity as well as a photograph reflecting this.

Bexton’s other project, Library Tactics, focussed on finding ways to create more excitement and appreciation of the film section in the university library. She drew on her love of old movies, using favourite characters and film quotes to transform the film space.
