“We’re All Mad Here” is a graduate collection by Beth Moore, inspired by a child’s curious struggle to understand the confusing world of an adult, specifically focusing on the escapism of everyday life, as seen in Lewis Carroll’s Adventures in Wonderland. With a focus on the themes of fantasy that are presented both within the novels and the movies, Moore presents a collection that is full of creativity and imagination. Further themes of childhood innocence and escapism are explored, as well as coming of age is inspired by Alice as she attempts to manage inner conflicts, such as her identity.

Identity is a strong theme that is portrayed within this project, especially in light of the events of the last few years which have caused people, including Beth herself, to be unable to express themselves as much.

Another creative outlet that is explored within the collection is the photography of Tim Walker; specifically his collection of images called “Story Teller”. These images, as well as all of his work, are very focused on a fantasy world. His work is theatrical, bordering on surrealist and romantic, and every scene is created with hand crafted props which explore ideas on a contrasting scale.

In order to keep her work childlike, Moore explored the idea of playing dress up. In order to do this, print clashing has been used as a main feature, almost as though the garments have been thrown on in a rush.
