The delicate fragility of hosiery and its translucent tones has become a symbolic item within the female identity. Many female artist, poets and writers continue to explore the meaning of this item within female culture and its subversive power linked to sexuality and female identity. The collective of pieces within Madeline Hather’s collection #HERSEXUALPOWER, explore the tactile uses of hosiery and offer a new use and meaning to the item. Sharp tailored silhouettes are juxtaposed with relaxed sportwear, and provocative bodycon staples and the symbolism of hoisiery to female identity is explored. This is a provocative approach to womenswear and creating a new meaning to undergarments, expressing the beauty of it as outerwear and representing the strength of femininity through a contemporary empowered wardrobe.

Hather has completed internships at luxury British fashion brands, Amanda Wakeley (which was offered to her as a result of a live project) and Julien Macdonald. During the placement year at both brands, Hather was given many roles of responsibility where she learnt important things about the industry and in some cases was able to get involved and show her own creative flare working alongside the design teams.
