Show Stopper is an app-based brand by Rachel Lilley where viewers can shop for clothes worn by their favourite TV and Film characters whilst they watch. Brands collaborate with TV series or films to create collections worn specifically on the show or film, gaining more publicity and advertising in a less obvious way. It will also allow brands to reach a wider audience, by tapping into the show or film’s target audience.
Show Stopper works in partnership with streaming services such as Netflix. The shows with collaborations available through Show Stopper will have a QR code at the beginning of the episode that can be scanned through the Show Stopper app. The app will then follow along as you watch and show the outfits as they appear on your screen, allowing you to shop the outfits.
The app features pages to show users popular outfits worn by different characters and shop exact or similar products, catering to a wider audience by providing cheaper alternatives for some outfits. Other features of the app include an information page when scanning a QR code to see fun facts and information about the actors of the show that has been scanned. There will also be a page that will be updated weekly with the “star of the show” which will be voted for by viewers and they will choose which character they are loving that week. There will also be a forum on the app where users can discuss current TV shows, their favourite looks and any other TV or film-related discussions.
